A good friend of mine was born on Christmas Day. It’s a good idea to make the Christmas greeting card and the Birthday card distinctly separate on this very particular day (I would expect nothing less myself). So, as the birthday card, I came up with a bouquet of roses against a brown card. The bouquet is held by an origami fold that started as what ‘origamists’ call a “bird base”. I tweaked it a little bit to make it look like a plastic bouquet wrapper using a Japanese block print origami paper (a current favourite). Compose the roses together and voila!

I am a self-taught designer-maker based in the U.K. I am interested in the inherent beauty of textiles and paper. I describe myself as a peripatetic maker of things, given my number of skills in crafts. Having used paper and textiles longest, these tend to feature on my works quite heavily.
