Portraits

“Pink Lipped”

Another self-portrait, this time with pink lips. As a kid, I secretly coveted lipsticks, particularly the pink ones. When trying it on for the first time, I felt a strange kind of elation – a pure joy tinged with guilt. This portrait reclaims that memory with a new found sense of redemption. The tinge of guilt is gone. A note on the process – I am using leaves, beetroot, rose petals and oil paints to create colour on the papers. The serendipitous nature of this way of quilling is a joy to do. It is, quite simply, liberating.

“Slowgram Selfie”

Self-portrait. Better than a phone selfie, if I may say so!

Sisters

This piece was exhibited at UHCW NHS Trust Coventry to mark 70 years of the NHS. It is a portrait of two Filipino nurses who have become “sisters” (i.e., team leaders). It was a proud moment to make their portraits.

Blue Eyed Girl

A fashion inspired moment.
