Forty

Forty is a landmark moment, I think, as far as birthdays are concerned. This card was a specially notable one which I made last year for my friend. I am posting it today to share. This is definitely one of my ‘maximalist’ cards, hopefully still achieved with some visual sophistication. But this is relative to the beholder (and I am obviously very biased here). My thoughts were simply to make a simply decorated die cut stand out in the middle of a wreath border. The glass beads are actually amber in colour but picks up the red paper quite well. The white beads I thought were an effective counterpoint. The wreath motifs are made freestyle. Just using up my myriad strips of trusted premium papers. The black beads gives this piece a food-like appearance, I think. The sky blue dots were a final flourish to give the whole thing a ‘twinkle’.
