As it is Oscar season, this week I am thinking about gowns again. I thought I’d post this work here as I have not shared it here. This ensemble is in chiffon with a dupion silk ‘skeleton’. Overlaying chiffon on a silk skeleton has achieved this look of floating or suspended auricular flowers. They remind me of foxglove. Perhaps, I should make a gown that does have those exact colours in mind next time. That might be an idea for spring. I suppose I was thinking of that kind of effect when I was making this particular gown. The mermaid silhouette is very classic. It’s fit for any debutante or an Oscar winner!

I am a self-taught designer-maker based in the U.K. I am interested in the inherent beauty of textiles and paper. I describe myself as a peripatetic maker of things, given my number of skills in crafts. Having used paper and textiles longest, these tend to feature on my works quite heavily.
