I have been a bit hooked into making these daisies lately after my previous big work. I decided to make some more for Johanna’s Hawaiian-themed birthday surprise. I also made a red lei for her, which she wore all night (I am proud to report)! The lei was a coup as I have not used crepe paper for a long time. I remember using them for flower-making for funerals, for some reason. A bit macabre, but the flowers I saw executed in crepe paper by very deft women were phenomenal. I think I was about thirteen when I first saw this kind of flower-making. The daisy here is a ‘stiff’ paper example, but some crepe paper ones probably would evoke a different feel. Mmmm. More ideas…

I am a self-taught designer-maker based in the U.K. I am interested in the inherent beauty of textiles and paper. I describe myself as a peripatetic maker of things, given my number of skills in crafts. Having used paper and textiles longest, these tend to feature on my works quite heavily.
