This is my latest visual work. I quilled some flowers and then spattered some crayon colours on them. I quite like how it turned out. It’s a work in progress. I quite like the process of this approach because of its two contrasting ‘tendencies’: the control and bordering-on-obssessive approach of the quilling against the broad, unpredictable ‘messiness’ of spattering on colours. They are both anal approaches, of course (if you’re into Freud), existing in opposing ends of a spectrum. It would seem they can converge and meet to create an expression. There is something in this, I think. I quite like the visual effect.
Quilling with Crayons

I am a self-taught designer-maker based in the U.K. I am interested in the inherent beauty of textiles and paper. I describe myself as a peripatetic maker of things, given my number of skills in crafts. Having used paper and textiles longest, these tend to feature on my works quite heavily.
