May Flowers is a new floral arrangement in traditional quilling. I am adding new folly flowers to my collection. I am making “open work” (like the see-through dark purple flower on the left). It reminds me of broderie anglaise, or even corded lacework (particularly Burano lace).
The vessel for these flowers is minimal. There’s a hint of a basket or a vase. The beholder can make their mind up. I like this new minimalist way of arranging the elements. I have done away with stems, to create a feeling of fecundity and abundance.
I am excited to announce that I am busily beavering away at the studio, as I’m preparing for my summer show. I will be exhibiting at an event called Art in the Park in Leamington this August. More details soon on what’s in store.
